Tomato

Moving to the big island as a pale white girl with no tan lines at all I knew at some point I would eventually get a really bad sun burn. After a couple weeks of living here I was urging to go to the beach that everyone was telling me I had to go to, Kua Bay. Getting to the beach in the middle of the day my mom tells me that the sun is a lot stronger here and I should put sunblock on multiple times while we are here, but because of my inane attitude I said " no I'm good for now." At this point I was not thinking much of it I just wanted to get in the water. As we get all set up at the beach and as I lay in the sand I can start to feel the sweltering sun soak into my skin. I get up off the sand to go cool my self off, as I get in cool salt water it brings me back to the days to when I lived in California when I would go to the beach every day. Playing in the ocean for hours I could feel my skin starting to hurt. Looking back to shore I see my mom waving at me telling me to come in, when I get near her she tells me that we have been here for four hours and it's time to leave. I couldn't believe that we were there for four hours and not once put on sunblock I then knew I had made a bad decision. When we got to the car lethargic due to all the energy I used while swimming in the ocean. I sit down and pull down the mirror and I am bright tomato red. I now know that I should never not put on sun block when I go to the beach in the middle of the day.
